Who are True Parents in God's providence?

In God's providence, True Parents are the substantial embodiment of God's original ideal for humanity. Standing as the victorious Third Adam and Eve, they complete both spiritual and physical salvation. Through the Holy Marriage Blessing, they cleanse original sin, engrafting fallen people into God's true lineage and establishing heavenly families on earth.

The concept of True Parents lies at the very core of God's providence and reveals the ultimate purpose for which humanity was created. From the beginning, God sought to dwell fully with His children in an eternal bond of authentic love, establishing a holy lineage through which every generation could inherit His divine heart and character. When the first human ancestors fell into an illicit relationship centered on selfishness, they became false parents, giving rise to a world separated from God and steeped in sorrow. Therefore, the long history of biblical restoration is essentially the story of God working to restore the original position of True Parents, through whom fallen humankind can be reborn, severed from the claim of Satan, and grafted into the true lineage of Heaven.

The Biblical Foundation

In the beginning, God endowed human beings with the capacity to reach spiritual maturity and reflect His divine nature. According to the original design, the first man and woman were to fulfill the divine blessings recorded in Scripture: "Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth" (Genesis 1:28). This biblical mandate reveals that God intended Adam and Eve to first attain perfected individuality, making their bodies living temples of God's Spirit. Having accomplished personal maturity, they were destined to unite in holy matrimony centered on God's love, establishing the original four position foundation and becoming the true ancestors of humanity.

Had they fulfilled this responsibility, Adam and Eve would have become the first True Parents, forming an integrated unity with God that constituted the original Trinity. Their offspring would have multiplied goodness, creating an unbroken family of God upon the earth and eventually expanding into a heavenly society, nation, and world. In this ideal order, human beings would have lived in harmonious vertical communion with the Creator and loving horizontal solidarity with one another.

Tragically, this divine ideal was interrupted by the human Fall. Adam and Eve allowed illicit desire to overpower God's commandment, entering into an unprincipled relationship with the Archangel. By doing so, they formed a reciprocal base with Satan rather than God, internalizing self-centeredness and establishing a corrupt lineage. Rather than embodying the standard of true parenthood, they became fallen parents. Consequently, the human race was born into a tragic condition, disconnected from the vertical source of life and reproducing a fallen lineage that brought about spiritual darkness and devastation across the earth.

The Principle's Clarification

Because God's will to establish His kingdom is absolute and unchangeable, He initiated the providence of restoration to recover what had been lost. To save humanity is not merely to offer legal pardon, but to recreate humankind in the original image of God. This divine endeavor requires the payment of indemnity, through which human beings set up conditions of faith and obedience to separate from Satan and return to God's presence. Throughout history, God raised up central figures such as Noah, Abraham, and Moses to establish a foundation of faith and a foundation of substance, preparing an environment in which the Messiah could be received.

Jesus Christ came as the second Adam, the sinless Son of God sent to accomplish this long-awaited mission. He was not intended merely to offer spiritual guidance or to suffer a premature death; he was sent to fulfill the original three blessings that Adam had lost. His ultimate purpose was to find his God-prepared bride, become the True Parents in the flesh, and establish the substantial Kingdom of Heaven on earth. For this reason, Jesus urged the people of his day, "This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent" (John 6:29).

Tragically, the religious and political leaders of that era failed to fulfill their portion of responsibility. Instead of receiving him with faith and assisting him in establishing a heavenly family, they rejected and mocked him. When Jesus wept over the holy city, he lamented their profound spiritual blindness: "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!" (Matthew 23:37). The cross was not the primary will of God, but a secondary course necessitated by human disbelief. Through his resurrection, Jesus secured spiritual salvation and formed a spiritual Trinity with the Holy Spirit, offering rebirth to the human spirit. Yet, because his physical body was taken, the physical lineage remained unredeemed, leaving humanity awaiting complete redemption at the Second Coming.

The Substantial Advent of True Parents

The return of the Messiah must therefore complete the unfinished work of physical restoration. Just as the Fall occurred both spiritually and physically through a man and a woman, full restoration must be accomplished through a substantial couple on earth. The returning Christ arrives in the flesh to fulfill the role of the third Adam. In conjunction with his bride, the third Eve, he establishes the physical and substantial Trinity centered on God, stepping forth as the victorious True Parents.

The profound mission of True Parents is to cut off the roots of original sin and restore humanity to God's direct lineage. This historic reversal is achieved through the Holy Marriage Blessing. Through this sacred rite, fallen men and women are engrafted onto the true olive tree, cleansing their ancestral lineage from satanic claim. The Apostle Paul foretold this dynamic when he wrote, "For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive" (1 Corinthians 15:22). Through the grace of True Parents, husband and wife can establish a God-centered family, overcome historical resentments, and raise children who belong purely to Heaven. True Parents thus stand as the root, pattern, and foundation of God's original family ideal.

Living the Principle

Recognizing the reality of True Parents transforms how we understand our faith and live our daily lives. Salvation is no longer viewed as an isolated, abstract experience, but as the active restoration of the family as God's eternal dwelling place. We are called to stand on the side of Heaven by establishing our own conditions of indemnity, choosing self-sacrifice over selfishness and forgiveness over resentment. By harmonizing mind and body in accordance with God's Word, we align our lives with the vertical axis of divine love.

Furthermore, living this truth requires that we cherish the sanctity of marriage and view our families as holy instruments for global healing. By receiving the Blessing and practicing living for the sake of others, we participate directly in dismantling the walls of racial, national, and religious division. In doing so, we inherit the heart of True Parents, working faithfully to establish a unified global family and realizing the long-awaited Kingdom of Heaven both here on earth and throughout the eternal realms of the spirit world.
